Using the FEI Equine Prohibited Substances Database

How to use the Database

The Prohibited Substances Database provides information on the following:

  • FEI classification of approximately 1,200 substances into Banned Substances and Controlled Medication Substances
  • Definition of the substance
  • Common usage of the substance
  • Common trade names in main markets where available

Please note:The list of trade names is not exhaustive but it reflects the most popular trade names in certain countries. The trade names used may be different in your country therefore it is imperative you always use the database to check for active substances rather than trade names

How to use the search function

You have the following options when searching for a substance:

  1. Type either a substance name or a common trade name into the search field.
  2. As soon as you start typing, a suggestion feature will appear below the search field and help you choose the substance/trade name you are looking for:
  3. You may also type in only the first few letters of the name you are looking for. For example, typing in 'anti-stress' would return products containing these letters:
  4. If you are looking for more general information, you may also type in one or more keywords, for example entering 'anti-inflammatory' would return results where the Active Substance, Definition or Information fields contain that keyword:
